Schmitz Preserve Park

Monday, May 12, 2008

5551 S.W. Admiral Way

Walking trails trek through the 53.1 acres of lush forest, much of which was donated by Beach Drive pioneers Ferdinand and Emma Schmitz in 1908. The city purchased additional park acreage from the old Alki streetcar line. The park actually begins at the south side of the Alki Community Center, where a concrete pathway parallels Schmitz Creek uphill to the main parking lot, from which the inclined trails branch out.
