About West Seattle & White Center Community Centers West Seattle has five community centers operated by the city of Seattle and there's another one in White Center run by King County. Two voter-approved levies in Seattle funded expanded and renovated centers at High Point as well as at Southwest Community Center. Click here to read full story

Admiral District From its brightly lit, beloved Admiral movie theater to the halls of West Seattle High School, the area is thriving with lovely homes, hip restaurants and proud longtime residents. Click here to read full story
Alki Alki, with its popular beach reminiscent of Southern California shores, is celebrated as a prized destination throughout Seattle. No other beach in the city matches it for views of Downtown, Elliott Bay and Puget Sound. Gone is the funky array of beach shacks, replaced by condos with multimillion-dollar views. The beach and its adjoining bike trail offer a myriad of recreational opportunities. Visitors come on in-line skates and toting scuba gear, pulled by pooches or pushing strollers. Click here to read full story
Junction Named for the location where two streetcar lines crossed, the California Avenue Junction is the hub for a variety of boutiques, restaurants, as well as the popular ArtsWest Playhouse and Gallery. Nowhere else in the city is it legal to cross the intersection diagonally than at the convergence of Alaska Street and California Avenue, and nowhere else can one be so befuddled as to which way to go. No trip to the Junction is complete without sampling some ice cream at Husky Deli or grabbing an espresso and baked treat at Caper's. Small, locally owned shops cater to childhood whimsy, young lovers looking for the perfect way to tie the knot, as well as basic needs and professional services. Click here to read full story
White Center White Center continues to be a growing and diverse neighborhood. The Community Development Association is a nonprofit grassroots organization whose mission is to build community and improve the quality of life for White Center residents through community-based economic redevelopment, affordable housing and advocacy, according to executive director Aileen Balahadia. Delridge While its namesake arterial slices down its center, Delridge is actually a myriad of small neighborhoods. It encompasses Cottage Grove, Pigeon Point, Puget Ridge - to name a few - as well as South Seattle Community College. Click here to read full story
Westwood Travel beyond West Seattle or White Center and people might think only of its shopping area when you mention Westwood. However, the neighborhood is a hub of civic activism, recreational activity, school pride and environmental stewardship. Click here to read full story
Fauntleroy This hamlet that lies beyond Lincoln Park also hosts the eastern terminus of a Washington State Ferry run. The quiet cove often shudders at the exodus of Fauntleroy Ferry Terminal traffic but neighborhood activists and ferry officials working together (as well as a few well-placed traffic cops) have created a peaceful coexistence. West Seattle District Councils If you want to put in a traffic circle or spruce up a play space, you may need a Neighborhood Matching Fund grant. Then, you'll need to present your project to your area neighborhood council. If the council sees merit in your idea, you'll move onto an area district council, whose members will weigh the community benefits of your idea against similar projects. Click here to read full story
